AirGarage is hiring an In-House Journalist to become the company’s first dedicated editorial team member.
Reporting to the Head of Marketing, this person will build and manage an editorial program designed to strengthen AirGarage’s brand, generate media attention, and contribute directly to business growth.
The role blends journalism, data storytelling, audience development, social content, and earned media.
Rather than producing standard corporate marketing content, the person in this position will be expected to uncover original stories, interview industry experts, analyze proprietary data, and turn those findings into content that appeals to readers, journalists, and potential customers.
AirGarage is particularly interested in someone who can operate independently, find compelling stories without waiting for detailed direction, and use AI tools to streamline repetitive parts of the editorial workflow.
Key Responsibilities1. Editorial Program Development- Build and manage AirGarage’s owned publication, producing high-quality editorial features on a monthly or quarterly schedule.
- Identify original stories through company data, industry developments, interviews, and independent research.
- Create recurring quarterly data reports using AirGarage’s proprietary parking information and translate complex findings into clear, newsworthy narratives.
- Develop AI-supported workflows that reduce manual analysis and production work while keeping editorial judgment, fact-checking, interviews, and storytelling human-led.
- Research and interview property owners, asset managers, city parking officials, economists, mobility experts, and other relevant voices.
- Conduct interviews that produce strong insights, useful quotes, and perspectives that can support both editorial content and media outreach.
- Turn original reporting and data findings into pitches for journalists covering commercial real estate, proptech, urban development, parking, and related sectors.
- Build professional relationships with reporters and identify stories with a genuine chance of receiving earned media coverage.
- Create content for the CEO’s LinkedIn presence as well as AirGarage’s company-owned social channels.
- Repurpose interviews, reports, company developments, and data insights into social content that feels natural and credible rather than overly corporate.
- Support SEO and generative-engine optimization initiatives by producing original, research-backed content that can perform in traditional search and be referenced by AI systems.
- Work closely with technical and marketing partners to develop repeatable systems for content creation, distribution, and audience growth.
Candidates should have the following skills and experience:
- Roughly 4 to 8+ years of experience in journalism, editing, research, or another editorial role with a strong portfolio of published work.
- Demonstrated ability to uncover original angles and find stories that may not be immediately obvious.
- Confidence working with spreadsheets, datasets, and quantitative information to identify useful patterns, anomalies, or potential stories.
- Strong interviewing skills, including preparation, active listening, and the ability to ask productive follow-up questions.
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to move comfortably between long-form journalism, research reports, social posts, and media pitches.
- A clear, direct writing style that can adjust to different audiences and content formats.
- Experience using AI tools or a strong interest in building AI-assisted editorial workflows.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding that editorial work should ultimately contribute to brand awareness, audience growth, and demand generation.
- Ability to work independently and build new processes rather than relying on an established editorial playbook.
- Comfort operating in a fast-moving startup where priorities may shift and experimentation is expected.
Additional experience in the following areas would be valuable:
- Previous reporting or editorial coverage of commercial real estate, proptech, mobility, urban development, cities, business, or finance.
- Experience working with journalists, pitching stories, or supporting earned media campaigns.
- A record of growing an audience on LinkedIn or other social platforms.
- Familiarity with SEO fundamentals and how AI-powered search tools identify and cite authoritative sources.
